Event description

Join Arianna and Misia for a play-ful virtual offering where we will explore feeling boundless and liberated with Fat-Positive theatre games, journaling and body positive hatha yoga and meditation. Please wear comfortable clothing where you can move about freely and be prepared for a fun yet restorative experience.

This event is free and open to both members and non-members!

Presenter Bios

Misia has a background in Dance and Theatre and has been practicing hatha yoga & meditation since the early 2000’s. She has over 500+ hours of Yoga Teacher Training since 2007. In 2021 she became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor. Misia’s creative work has been featured in the Queer Women of Color Film Festival, NOLOSE’s SPAL grant, Big Moves Bay Area and the Fat Activism conference to name a few. In 2017 Misia became a certified body positive consultant with the California non-profit “The Body Positive” and has served on ASDAH’s leadership team since 2017.

Arianna is a Mental Health Professional and Theatre Artist from Los Angeles. She is dedicated to using creativity and the arts to build stronger communities. All of these tools are necessary to reduce stigma, and increase awareness. She specializes in Drama Therapy integrating the healing capacity of theatre and play with mindfulness-based psychotherapy. By fostering strength and resilience in therapy, she helps clients reclaim their own sense of power from traumatic experiences. Helping clients feel empowered to create more fulfilling relationships, develop healthy coping strategies for stress, and rekindle a sense of spontaneity. She offers guidance with issues of body image, anxiety reduction and reclaiming personal power. She provides therapy to a variety of clients including adolescents, incarcerated people, veterans, women, trans community, people of color and body positive empowerment for fat-bodied people.
