Deconstructing Rest: Respite, Restmaking & the Possibility of Ease
Rest is a human right, yet so many of us have been taught that it must be earned through productivity, labor, or exhaustion. In this 60-minute interactive community event, JerVae Anthony invites us to examine how anti-Blackness, anti-fat bias, ableism, and systemic inequities shape our access to rest. Together, we'll explore respite as harm reduction, restmaking as a collective practice, and the role of interdependence in creating opportunities for relief and care. Through guided reflection and small-group discussions, participants will consider how to challenge internalized beliefs about rest and identify practical ways to make rest more accessible for themselves and others. This gathering offers space to reflect, connect, and imagine what becomes possible when we recognize rest as something we all deserve.
This is a community event and all are welcome. It will be completely virtual and will not be recorded.
